OREGON, Ill. (AP) - Electronic cigarettes will be prohibited in almost all Ogle County public and work places starting July 1.

The (Dixon) Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1Jm4qdn ) that the county’s director of health education and emergency preparedness said in a Wednesday news release that the ban was motivated by an increase in young people using e-cigarettes.

The ban applies to offices, theater, museums, libraries, education institution, schools, enclosed shopping centers, retail stores, restaurants, bar, private clubs and gaming facilities.

First-time violators will be fined $100. Businesses will be fined $250 for a first violation. The ban covers all places in Ogle County where traditional smoking products are banned.

The Ogle County seat is Oregon, about 25 miles southwest of Rockford.
