BOONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A 31-year-old southwestern Indiana man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to reduced charges of assisting a criminal in connection with the death of a man whose body was found at a power plant last year.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (https://bit.ly/1RDJZaZ ) David Lackey of Boonville has nine months to serve, with credits, after agreeing to the plea deal. He could have been sentenced to up to 65 years if had he been tried and convicted of the murder and conspiracy charges he originally faced in the shooting death of Joseph Nelson of Martinsville.

Nelson’s body was found at Alcoa Warrick Operations along the Ohio River just east of Evansville on Feb. 17, 2014.
