FRISCO, Colo. (AP) - A former amateur fighter faces a new murder trial in a fatal beating at a Frisco motel after jurors deadlocked on the charges against him.

The Summit Daily News (https://bit.ly/1Gx3oVR) reports that the jurors were dismissed Thursday after deliberating the case against 42-year-old Charles Lee Sattler for nearly three days. Judge Karen Romeo questioned them twice to make sure they weren’t able to reach a verdict.

Sattler is accused of beating 38-year-old Blake Bostic to death during an argument in April 2014. Sattler’s attorneys say he was acting to protect a friend who was fighting with Bostic but they lost a bid to have the case thrown out under Colorado’s “Make My Day” law.

Some witnesses said Sattler continued to punch Bostic after he was lying on the ground.
