SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - A judge has convicted a 19-year-old man accused of bludgeoning his father to death and hiding his body for nearly a week in their Sheboygan apartment.

Sheboygan Press Media (https://shebpr.es/1Iitelc ) reports Judge Terence Bourke delivered his verdict Friday. Dorrian M. Torres was 17 at the time of the killing in January 2014. He was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Torres waived his right to a jury trial and claimed self-defense.

The teen testified Thursday he beat his 41-year-old father, Emilio Torres, on the head with a mallet. He said his father was angry at him for smoking marijuana and they got into a fight.

Dorian Torres faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. At minimum, he must serve 20 years in prison. A sentencing date will be set Monday.
