BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) - Police say a northeastern Massachusetts teenager was critically wounded in an accidental shooting involving BB guns and a pellet gun.

The 17-year-old boy was wounded at a home in Billerica on Friday morning. His name hasn’t been released.

Billerica Deputy Police Chief Roy Frost says the incident happened while a group of juveniles was using BB guns and a pellet gun. Frost says the boy suffered a life-threatening injury and is in critical condition at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.

Neighbors say three teenage brothers live in the home where the accident happened. They described the boys as good kids who helped neighbors shovel snow in the winter.

Police haven’t released any other details.
