NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a driver and a passenger died after a car went out of control after going into high water on a road in suburban Indianapolis.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on a county road in a rural area just east of Noblesville. Storms dumped heavy rain in the area late Friday and early Saturday.

The department says the car 39-year-old Armando Lara of Noblesville was driving went off the road, hitting a mailbox and a utility pole. Lara died after he was taken to a Noblesville hospital. Authorities said later Saturday that a 16-year-old female sitting in the back seat died from her injuries.

Officials say two other juvenile passengers had minor injuries.
