WASHINGTON (AP) - Flash flood warnings are in effect for large parts of the Washington area.

The flood warning Saturday covers the District of Columbia, the Maryland suburbs and much of northern Virginia, including Arlington, Alexandria, Manassas, Fairfax County and parts of Prince William and Loudoun counties.

The National Weather Service says heavy rains will continue moving through the area, and rivers and streams are rising. Forecasters say drivers should not drive through flooded roads.
