SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say a former Salt Lake County jail worker has been arrested for having sexual contact with inmates in the jail’s kitchen.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1LBIsUd ) that Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder says the kitchen worker was arrested Friday because investigators suspect that she had sexual contact with at least two inmates in a concealed part of the kitchen.

Winder says he believes that the worker was either being groomed or had engaged in the transmission of contraband items into the jail. He says that aspect of the case is still under investigation.

The woman was booked under suspicion of four counts of custodial sexual relations.

Winder says she quit her job with contractor Trinity Services about a week ago.
