LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities are trying to determine if there’s a link between a shooting and the discovery of a dead man inside a car near a Southern California freeway.

City News Service says a 20-year-old man was found in the overturned car Friday night near a State Route 60 onramp in South El Monte.

Authorities say it appears the car rolled and the driver fled, leaving behind the dead passenger and two guns.

There’s no word on the cause of death but sheriff’s officials say the car may have been struck by bullets several miles away.

Meanwhile, a man with gunshot wounds showed up at a local hospital.

The Sheriff’s Department is trying to determine whether the people in the car might have been in a fight with the shooting victim.
