FLUSHING, Mich. (AP) - A memorial service has been held for Michigan emergency medical workers who have died during life-saving efforts.

The service comes as plans are in the works to create a Michigan memorial for emergency medical workers who have died while working to save lives. It could cost $200,000. The nonprofit Michigan EMS Memorial organization, which was started in 2012, says more than 40 people have died since 1985.

The annual service was held Saturday at Riverview Park in Flushing.
