PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a mountain lion that was spotted in a tree near a Pleasant Grove hiking trail has been tranquilized and released.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1FGXmQK ) that police officers responded to Friday morning calls about a mountain lion in a tree along Murdock Canal Trail.

Pleasant Grove Police Department Capt. Mike Roberts says the mountain lion ran about a block away and entered an open garage after wildlife officers tranquilized it.

He says officers asked the homeowners to close the garage door. They then entered and tranquilized the cat a second time.

Department of Wildlife Resources Outreach Manager Scott Root says the mountain lion was a 2-year-old male.

He says the animal was later released in good condition at a confidential location.
