GARRISON, N.D. (AP) - Fort Stevenson State Park near Garrison is hosting a celebration of the 50th anniversary of North Dakota’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The Sunday event will include food, a flag-raising ceremony and remarks by State Parks Director Mark Zimmerman. The event is one of 13 around the state this year celebrating the golden anniversary of Parks and Rec.

The celebration is being held in conjunction with Fort Stevenson Military Days this weekend. The park will host a veterans program Sunday afternoon.

Sunday also is the park’s Visitor Appreciation Day, and daily entrance fees will be waived.
