LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - A prosecutor says a man shot and killed by a central Pennsylvania police officer after he wounded another officer last month brought his death upon himself.

Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said 29-year-old Anthony Gomez Jr. “said he wasn’t going to surrender, and he didn’t.”

Gomez was shot to death May 19 by a Lancaster police officer after authorities said he shot and wounded another officer during a confrontation in a city apartment.

Police had gone to the unit to try to arrest Gomez in a domestic disturbance involving a former girlfriend the night before.

LNP newspapers (https://bit.ly/1JpZuEv ) reports that Stedman said the confrontation “could have been way, way worse.” He said the actions of the officers were “entirely justified.”
