TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson mother and her boyfriend are facing charges after the woman’s young son was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Arizona Daily Star reports () that 22-year-old Ashley Fry and 24-year-old Kyle McConnel were arrested Saturday on one count each of felony child abuse. McConnel has also been booked for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says other charges are pending.

Tucson firefighters were called around 11 a.m. Friday and found the 2-year-old boy with critical injuries, including head trauma.

Dugan says the boy and another child found in the house are in the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
