HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died in a fire that damaged a three-family home in Hartford.

Fire Chief Carlos Huertas tells the Hartford Courant (https://cour.at/1FHfbPR) that an elderly man also was injured in fire on Oakland Terrace. He said the man is stable at St. Francis Hospital.

Huerta said firefighters arrived at about 11:39 a.m. Saturday and found heavy, intense fire. It was mostly under control about an hour later.

The fire chief said six people lived there, along with two dogs. One of the dogs died in the fire. It’s not immediately known how many residents were at home.

A woman walking in the neighborhood said she saw flames coming from the second floor and warned two people sitting on the porch with a dog.

Huertas said the cause remains under investigation.
