SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - The funeral for a West Texas police sergeant killed when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle will be held Monday.

Services will be held at Foster Communications Coliseum in San Angelo for Sgt. Korby Kennedy. A procession will began at noon from Johnson’s Funeral Home and make its way to the coliseum. Following the service, a second procession will return to the funeral home.

Kennedy was killed Thursday night as he helped escort a parade of boats from Lake Nasworthy to a restaurant for an event called Showdown in San Angelo Drag Boat Races.

Authorities say an SUV pulled out of a parking lot and hit Kennedy’s motorcycle. Two women in the SUV were hurt.

Kennedy was a San Angelo police officer for nearly 20 years.
