SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The nation’s largest LGBT organization has announced plans to hold a conference in Salt Lake City just days before the conservative World Congress of Families stages a convention in the city.

Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign, announced at a news conference Saturday in Salt Lake City that his group is backing the Inclusive Families Conference on Oct. 23-24.

The World Congress of Families is set to hold its international convention Oct. 27-30.

Griffin, who was joined by local gay leaders, released a new edition of his group’s report on what it brands as a hate organization.

The World Congress of Families supports what it calls a natural family consisting of a man and woman who unite in marriage for various reasons, including ensuring the full emotional development of children.
