HONOLULU (AP) - A 53-year-old hiker who died after falling approximately 200 feet was already unconscious with no pulse by the time rescuers reached him.

KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1GIlVP4 ) that Honolulu firefighters responded to a call around noon on Saturday about a hiker who fell from the Olomana trail between the first and second peak.

Battalion Chief Mark Nakagawa says the man’s body was airlifted to Maunawili District Park at 1:47 p.m.

The fire department says the hiker was one of a group of four men. It is not clear whether he was a visitor or a local resident.
