WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - The Walla Walla Regional Airport is slated to receive a $1 million federal grant.

U.S. Senator Patty Murray says the money from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to install perimeter fencing and fix the taxiway. The federal transportation agency announced the grants on Tuesday.

Murray says a second federal grant will go to the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco.

The $2.4 million for the Pasco airport will help fix the terminal building and the pavement.

Murray says the Walla Walla airport experienced a record number of travelers in May and the federal funds are a critical investment as air traffic continues to grow.
