GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) - Officials in a coastal Alabama city say they’re planning to install more surveillance cameras along the beach.

Gulf Shores Information Technology Officer Mike Hawley tells WKRG-TV (https://bit.ly/1cwwhZv ) the city is planning to install 25 new surveillance cameras. Hawley says officials expect two of the new cameras to be able to tilt, pan and zoom.

Officials say the city’s current system is seven years old and none of the cameras are pointed toward the beach. Hawley says most of them are pointed toward parking lots and local businesses.
