DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) - A former Dinwiddie County sheriff’s deputy has been indicted for what authorities describe as an illegal and abusive traffic stop involving his ex-girlfriend.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1GktwbE ) authorities say 40-year-old Michael D. Green conducted a traffic stop last summer during which Latisha S. Martin was thrown to the ground and sprayed with mace. Green’s dashboard camera recorded the episode.

Prosecutors say the Aug. 4 stop by Green, who was fired three days later, prompted Dinwiddie Commonwealth’s Attorney Ann Baskervill to dismiss a dozen traffic cases Green initiated last year because of questions surrounding his integrity.

Green’s attorney Steve Novey could not be reached for comment.

Green, who had been a deputy since 2010, has been released from jail on $10,000 bond. His next court hearing is set for June 16.
