DETROIT (AP) - Summer hours for some attractions on Belle Isle in Detroit are being expanded.

Starting Friday, the Belle Isle Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays. Visitors can tour the Dossin Great Lakes Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. those days.

The James Scott Memorial Fountain will operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Thursday through Labor Day, while the popular giant slide will be open from noon to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

Michigan’s Natural Resources department operates the island park in the Detroit River under a lease agreement with the city. The nonprofit Belle Isle Conservancy is responsible for generating funds for improvements and cultural programs on the island.

The nonprofit Detroit Historical Society operates the Dossin museum.
