JACKSON, N.J. (AP) - A 39-year-old man has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide a June 2014 crash that killed an off-duty northern New Jersey police officer.

Authorities say Jason Wolek pleaded guilty Monday.

Authorities say he was high on heroin and driving with a suspended license when the pickup truck he was behind the wheel of pulled out in front of 28-year-old Christopher Hoffman’s motorcycle in Jackson. The truck collided with Hoffman’s motorcycle, killing the Watchung police officer.

Wolek is scheduled to be sentenced on July 27. He’s been in jail since his June 7 arrest.
