SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - The wife of a slain Fort Stewart soldier has pleaded guilty to charges that she helped her brother plan the killing.

The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1H0EHoG ) 40-year-old Lillie Mae Eubank faces an automatic life sentence after she pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Savannah. Prosecutors say Eubank and her brother, Carl Evan Swain, conspired to kill Army Spc. John Eubank to collect $500,000 in death benefits.

The soldier was taken to a recreational area near Fort Stewart on Nov. 30, 2013, and was beaten to death with a baseball bat. Prosecutors say Lillie Eubank drove both her husband and her brother to the site, then returned for her brother after he killed the soldier.

A federal jury convicted Swain of murder in March.
