RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Tech University says it has self-imposed penalties and other sanctions due to housing rules violations it reported to the NCAA.

Arkansas Tech said in a new release Thursday that in August 2012, it allowed the women’s basketball program to pay the housing security deposits for four incoming and two returning student-athletes. The women’s basketball program paid the deposits from its camp budget, which caused the Office of Residence Life to report the payments as unusual.

After an internal investigation, it self-reported the findings to the NCAA. The NCAA enforcement staff conducted its own investigation, and determined that over a four-year period, $13,250 in deposits were waived and $1,500 in deposits were paid from the athletic camp budget.

No student-athlete received cash or any money as part of the violations.
