BETHEL, Conn. (AP) - One person has died after an early-morning fire that destroyed a house in Bethel.

Fire officials say a neighbor alerted them to the fire on Castle Hill Road shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday.

They say the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived and the fire was burning through the roof.

Firefighters found the body after bringing the fire under control. They say that person was apparently the only one inside the home at the time of the fire.

The victim’s identity has not been released and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
