DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is wasting little time getting to Iowa after announcing his candidacy for the 2016 presidential nomination.

According to JebAnnouncement.com, a website established to explain Bush’s announcement plans, the Republican plans to make his first Iowa campaign stop in Pella on June 17, a day after campaigning in New Hampshire.

Bush aides said Thursday he’ll announce his candidacy for president June 15 in Miami. For months, Bush has been raising money, traveling to early voting states and making public appearances in anticipation of a presidential candidacy. Next week, he is scheduled to travel to Europe to meet with German, Polish and Estonian leaders.

Iowa’s presidential caucuses are expected to be the first contest of the 2016 nominating campaign in February, followed by the New Hampshire primary.
