LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 28-year-old man turned himself in on a murder charge after the George County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a person had been killed and buried in woods in the Rocky Creek community.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1dOgbMr) Joshua Brandon Vallum was arrested on a murder charge Tuesday night.

Sheriff Dean Howell said the tip Tuesday morning led to the discovery of a body in a wooded area off Odom Road.

The remains have been sent to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officials said the victim’s name will be released after the identity is confirmed.

Vallum is being held at the county jail with no bond pending an initial court appearance.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Vallum.
