NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a Newark restaurant at gunpoint but fled without money.

It happened about 12:40 a.m. Thursday at Applebee’s on Churchman’s Road. Troopers say a man pointed a handgun at an employee and forced him to walk to the back of the restaurant.

Police say the restaurant manager and another employee saw what was happening, locked themselves in an office and called 911. Officers say the robber demanded that the first employee open the locked door, but he did not.

Authorities say the suspect ran away.
