MACON, Ga. (AP) - A Macon man has pleaded guilty in a 2014 car crash that killed a girl one day shy of her 17th birthday.

Multiple news sources report 19-year-old Grant Hoffman pleaded guilty to the vehicular death of his girlfriend, Abigail Hinson, Wednesday. Bibb County District Attorney David Cooke says Hoffman, son of Mercer basketball coach Bob Hoffman, will not serve jail time at the request of Hinson’s family.

Police say Hoffman was traveling 88 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per hour zone when he crashed his vehicle.

Cooke says Hoffman’s sentence includes 7 years of probation, treatment at an in-patient psychiatric program, and a 26 week family violence intervention program. The sentence also requires Hoffman has no driving violations during his probation, or he could be sent to prison.
