CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man convicted in the 2010 deaths of a mother and her two daughters, one of whom said to be his girlfriend, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Cook County Circuit Judge Timothy Joyce in March found 23-year-old Denzel Pittman of Park Forest guilty in the stabbing deaths of 43-year-old Stacy Cochran-Hill and her daughters, 17-year-old Jade Hannah and 11-year-old Joi Cochran.

According to prosecutors, witnesses saw the then 18-year-old Pittman standing over the body of one victim and fleeing the scene covered in blood after killing the other two. He was arrested a short time later.

In rendering his verdict, Joyce said evidence of Pittman’s guilt was overwhelming. Pittman’s attorney, Tod Urban, argued the prosecutors’ case was circumstantial.

Court records show, Pittman was sentenced Wednesday.
