FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A longtime University of Richmond administrator is the new vice president for student affairs at the University of Mary Washington.

The Fredericksburg university announced Juliette Landphair’s appointment Wednesday. She succeeds Douglas N. Searcy, who has been named president of Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina.

Landphair will be responsible for planning and directing of all of UMW’s student engagement programs in the offices of student activities, residential life, health and counseling services and athletics. She also will administer the student-run honor system.

She has worked at the University of Richmond since 1999, most recently as dean of Westhampton College and associate dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
