LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has nominated the head of Oakland’s airport to lead the city authority that oversees three Southern California airports.

On Wednesday, Garcetti announced his pick of Deborah Ale Flint to be the next executive director of Los Angeles World Airports.

The city authority oversees Los Angeles International, Ontario International and Van Nuys airports.

Ale Flint has had various roles in Oakland, most recently as the executive in charge of the airport’s operation and management.

If confirmed by the Los Angeles City Council, she would take over an authority currently focused on the multibillion dollar overhaul of LAX.
