HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Rockingham County Fire and Rescue officials have identified the McGaheysville-area man who died after a kitchen fire in his duplex.

The Daily News-Record reports (https://bit.ly/1KOzbb6) Chief Jeremy Holloway says 37-year-old Noel Stobbs was cooking when the fire started Tuesday afternoon in his duplex on Dave Berry Road.

Holloway says Stobbs was not breathing and had a faint pulse when emergency crews pulled him outside the residence to perform CPR. Stobbs died at the scene.

Fire officials say there was no one else in the residence when crews arrived at the scene. Medical examiners are investigating the cause of his death.

Holloway says the fire caused roughly $20,000 in damage, including smoke damage throughout the home and fire damage to the kitchen.
