PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear has announced Paducah will receive an additional $403,156 in federal funds for the fifth phase of the Greenway Trail.

The Paducah Sun (https://bit.ly/1Jsevnn) reports Beshear made announced Wednesday the fifth phase will be funded by the Transportation Alternative Program grant funding. Officials say the final phase will begin where the Schultz Park portion of the trail will end near Monroe and Madison streets. The new portion will extend to Jefferson Street and will include trailhead parking and lighting.

The Greenway Trail extends from County Park Road west of Stuart Nelson Park to Campbell Street near the Paducah Expo Center and links residential neighborhoods with the Perkins Creek Nature Preserve, three city parks, and the riverfront.
