SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say they are investigating as a homicide the death of a man whose body was found near the Jordan River Parkway Trail on Monday.

Salt Lake City police Detective Veronica Montoya said Thursday that investigators have determined that the death of 36-year-old Anthony Paul Hernandez wasn’t an accident or a suicide.

Investigators believe Hernandez was homeless when he died. Police say he suffered some kind of trauma, but his cause of death has not been released.

Authorities have not named any suspects. At least one man has been questioned and released in the case.

Hernandez’s body was found by people walking the trail Monday afternoon.
