RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond police have confirmed the identity of a body pulled from the James River as a Henrico County man who fell from a canoe.

Multiple media outlets report the body of 40-year-old Venson V. Vaughn was pulled from the river Wednesday. Police say he is the man who fell into the river after his canoe overturned Monday.

Officials say Henrico County fire officials, working in conjunction with the Virginia State Police and the Richmond fire department, recovered the body after 12:30 p.m. near Pony Pasture above the Z Dam.

Officials say the state medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of death. Police say foul play isn’t expected.
