GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Collbran and Mesa County residents are preparing for possible evacuation in the event that weekend rain overflows the pond created by last year’s massive mudslide in western Colorado.

The Daily Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1H3REht) county engineering manager and West Salt Creek landslide incident commander Pete Baier says residents were warned Wednesday, the same day the National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the area.

Equipment is being set up to handle the possible overflow of pond water into the slide.

The flash flood watch is in effect until Monday.

This story has been corrected in the second paragraph to show the National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch, not a flash flood warning.
