ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Rapides Parish students - boys and girls - can wear their hair as long as they like next year as long as it is neat, clean and does not draw “undue attention.”

The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1G8vudo ) the Rapides Parish School Board approved a “dress and appearance for all students” section for the 2015-16 student handbook at a meeting Tuesday. It will replace a section separated into rules for boys and girls in the current handbook.

The new policy also allows boys to wear stud earrings.
