VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A series of Instagram and Twitter posts by hip hop recording artist Pusha T started a social media firestorm over a sports bar and nightclub in Virginia Beach.

Multiple news sources report the artist, whose name is Terrence Thornton, posted he was denied entry into Venue 112 Monday night. On Tuesday, Thornton told WAVY-TV (https://bit.ly/1G7fzvS ) white males and females walked in before him and his friend, even though the two were there first.

There are a variety of similar accounts online dating back to last year or further of individuals claiming they were denied entry to the club.

Venue 112 attorney Kevin Martingayle says the club does discriminate but only based on familiarity, the way individuals are dressed and the way they act - not race.
