PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Woonsocket woman accused of illegally taking her young son to Washington state and sparking an Amber alert has been sentenced to two years of probation.

Thirty-seven-year-old Andria Britt was sentenced Thursday in Providence Superior Court after pleading no contest to child snatching. She also was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution to the state’s Amber Alert Awareness Program and to stay away from her son.

Authorities say Britt shared custody of the boy with his father and violated a court order by taking him to Washington in January 2014. He was 6 at the time.

An Amber alert was issued after police said documents led them to believe the boy might be in danger, but both were found safe.

Britt’s attorney did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
