GLENBROOK, Nev. (AP) - A 75-year-old California woman has died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 50 on the east shore of Lake Tahoe.

The Nevada Highway Patrol identified the victim Thursday as Darlene Hall of Skyforest.

Investigators are trying to determine why the GMC Yukon she was driving drifted off the north shoulder of the highway near Glenbrook shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. She traveled down a dirt slope before striking several boulders head on.

The patrol said Hall and one of two dogs with her were found dead at the scene. The other dog was taken to a local vet for treatment of serious injuries.

Neither alcohol nor drugs is suspected as a factor in the cause of the crash, which caused the temporary closure of the westbound lanes.
