AMSTERDAM (AP) - Goalkeeper Brad Guzan returned to the U.S. lineup for the first time since November for Friday night’s exhibition game at the sixth-ranked Netherlands.

John Brooks and Ventura Alvarado started in central defense for the No. 27 United States, with Timmy Chandler at right back and Brek Shea at left back.

Kyle Beckerman was in central midfield, flanked by Michael Bradley and Alfredo Morales. Fabian Johnson and Gyasi Zardes were ahead of them flanking Aron Johannsson in the attack.

The Americans, preparing to defend their title at next month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, were missing captain Clint Dempsey, who remained in Seattle awaiting the birth of his fourth child, and injured forward Jozy Altidore (hamstring) and midfielder Alejandro Bedoya (knee).

The Dutch have a European Championship qualifier at Latvia next week.
