DANVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police are looking for three people believed to be responsible for the death of a Danville man who was shot multiple times in front of his home.

WSLS-TV reports 48-year-old Benny Sigmon was shot Thursday around 4:20 a.m. When police arrived, they saw Sigmon in his driveway suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say Sigmon told them he went outside to confront three people who were trespassing on his property and one of them shot him multiple times.

The suspects fled the scene - one on foot and two in a station wagon. No other description was available.

Sigmon was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:53 a.m.
