CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Time is winding down to submit comments on a state proposal to expand the Mount Sunapee ski resort, which critics say will lead to a real estate sprawl that will scar the mountain.

Mount Sunapee Resort has been trying to expand for nearly two decades, looking to add a lift and four trails. A public comment period ends Friday.

Jeffrey Rose, commissioner of the Department of Resources and Economic Development, recommends that the expansion area - about 15 acres - be granted to the state, where it would become part of Mount Sunapee State Park. No real estate development would be permitted on the land, but some residents worry the resort will build condos nearby.

Opponents of the proposed expansion have turned in nearly 2,000 comments and signatures.
