DETROIT (AP) - General Motors Co. CEO Mary Barra and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder are calling for more hiring of military veterans.

They offered comments Friday at the GM Disney Veterans Seminar. The event is at automaker’s global headquarters in Detroit.

Snyder tells reporters that Michigan has “dramatically improved, but it’s not good enough. Let’s keep going.”

Barra says there’s “a tremendous need for the private sector to hire our military members and their spouses right now.”

The event includes a look into The Walt Disney Co. and other employers’ veteran and military spouse hiring practices. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, another workshop sponsor, is leading panels on state and federal resources for veterans and businesses looking to employ them.
