MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a former journalism professor at a New York state college has been charged with stealing more than $46,000 from the school over eight years.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse (https://bit.ly/1QwmwIf ) reports a Madison County grand jury on Thursday indicted 56-year-old Gladys Cleland of Liverpool on charges that include grand larceny and falsifying business records.

Prosecutors say she stole $41,650 between June 2002 and July 2010 and another $4,700 in July 2010 from Morrisville State College, 25 miles southeast of Syracuse.

According to an online profile posted by Cleland, she started as a journalism professor at Morrisville in 1996. Information on when she left the college wasn’t immediately available from Morrisville officials.

College officials aren’t commenting on her case.

A message left on Cleland’s voice mail Friday wasn’t immediately returned. Her attorney isn’t commenting on the charges.
