GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - Grand Island’s Citizens Review Committee has unanimously voted to recommend a forgivable loan of more than $200,000 to help a shipping and freight company add new jobs in the city’s downtown area.

The Grand Island Independent (https://bit.ly/1JvCT7n ) reports the committee voted Thursday in favor of a loan to help GIX Logistics add 26 new jobs.

The company has purchased a building to house 32 jobs that are already exist, and plans to renovate the second floor to add more jobs over the next three years.

Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. President Dave Taylor said $117,000 of the incentive money would be for job creation. The remaining $85,800 would be for job training.
