FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) - A 63-year-old man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for stabbing a 4-year-old girl and her great-grandmother outside a central Indiana library.

Reginald Robinson was sentenced Thursday for the 2013 attack in front of Frankfort Community Public Library. In February, a jury found him guilty but mentally ill on eight counts, including two counts of attempted murder.

Prosecutors accused Robinson of repeatedly stabbing the girl and her 72-year-old great-grandmother with a sharpened screwdriver. The girl lost sight in one eye, and the grandmother says she was stabbed in her back and head.

The defense had asked that the jury find Robinson not responsible by reason of insanity.
