BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Brookhaven man has been convicted of manslaughter in 2004 fatal shooting of a local businessman.

The Daily Leader reports (https://bit.ly/1BOtCBh ) Aaron LaDaniel Lyons was convicted of manslaughter and armed robbery Thursday in Lincoln County Circuit Court. He will be sentenced Monday.

Prosecutors say businessman John Deere was shot three times outside his convenience store, Airport Pik & Pak on U.S. Highway 51 in Brookhaven, on Jan. 16, 2004.

Prosecutors say Lyons took a cash box from Deere.

Lyons was indicted in September of 2014. Authorities say DNA evidence from the crime scene was recently matched in a national database to Lyons, who was in jail in Houston, Texas, on other charges when he was arrested in the Mississippi case.
